Teppanyaki a la Mom and Pop

This Shibuya teppanyaki place was C&D’s top recommendation when I was over at their home restaurant prior to my trip to Tokyo. I had some initial difficulty finding it but, for fellow anime fans, it’s in the side street just opposite the Shibuya branch of Animate Comics (not the main Animate Shibuya though).

The food was, of course, delicious with a starter salad, vegetables, premium steak and a piece of fried toast which had soaked up all the delicious drippings, all washed down with draft Sapporo beer (total JPY 9,800):

What really makes the place unique is its laid back atmosphere and the charming husband-and-waifu team. I spent nearly two and a half hours there chatting with them and just one other customer on a quiet Saturday evening about all sorts of things including earthquakes, cameras, the Meiji Jinju (fun fact: the forest around it was planted around the shrine rather than a pre-existing one), the Tokyo Sky Tree (fun fact: its height of 634m is a pun on Musashi, the old name of the region where the building stands.

A very tasty and soothingly warm experience; I’ll be back the next time I get a chance!
